The best way that I've found to think positive thoughts is to meditate, in other words, to focus my mind on encouraging Bible verses, like Philippians 4:8 and 4:13. These & other verses help me when I'm feeling defeated in my weight loss efforts.
If meditating on Bible verses isn't your style, then just focus your mind on positive affirmation statements, like "I can do this!"
A friend introduced me to Louise Hay. I bought her "You can heal yourself" kit with positive affirmation cards. I use those and some I made myself. I read them 10 times a day to do a "set" of positive affirmations - just like any exercise!
