Secrets of Success

Splenda Is Better For You Than Aspartame (pick Diet Rc Over Diet Coke)

Aspartame is broken down in the body into a series of chemical compounds that have been shown to cause health risks - not the least of which is severe worsening of depression symptoms in persons already suffering from depression. Infact, a medical study on the effects of aspertame on clinical depression had to be suspended due to the severity of the observed response in test subjects. Splenda, on the other hand, is not metabolized by the body. It passes through with almost no absorbtion.

More Information:

The presence of Cl is thought to be the most dangerous component of sucralose (Splenda). But, since it is 600x sweeter than sugar you use it in very small amounts, most of it is innert filler. In a tsp of Splenda you get over 600x LESS chlorine than in a tsp of table salt.(Sodium Chloride or NaCl)

  • @ 1Beautifulday1: Well Aspertame is Nutrasweet and Equal. Sweet and Low is Saccherine - which is also a chemical shown to be dangerous and has been shown to cause cancer in lab studies. Splenda is safest - but its still not natural. I think the best advice is really to limit sweets all together - use natural sugar in small amounts if you are medically able. When you do buy something 'sugar free' - look for the *Sweetened with Splenda* symbol and READ INGREDIENT LABLES! - by M0PPET
  • I know all the hype about Aspartame and MS are supposed to be urban legends, but I have had some strong symptoms that I can trace back to 1983, when I became a diet coke addict. I have made the swith to Diet Rite Definnatley worth a try :) - by JULIANNE1963
