Aspartame is broken down in the body into a series of chemical compounds that have been shown to cause health risks - not the least of which is severe worsening of depression symptoms in persons already suffering from depression. Infact, a medical study on the effects of aspertame on clinical depression had to be suspended due to the severity of the observed response in test subjects. Splenda, on the other hand, is not metabolized by the body. It passes through with almost no absorbtion.
The presence of Cl is thought to be the most dangerous component of sucralose (Splenda).But, since it is 600x sweeter than sugar you use it in very small amounts, most of it is innert filler. In a tsp of Splenda you get over 600x LESS chlorine than in a tsp of table salt.(Sodium Chloride or NaCl)

I will admit that I am addicted to Coca-Cola. Diet Coke tastes DISGUSTING to me and Coke Zero is a little better, but still tastes weird to me. Recently, I discovered Diet Dr. Pepper. It is really good and doesn't taste diet-y at all! It really helps take the edge off my soda cravings and I don't have to worry about calories at all!
For a long time I could not stand the taste of diet soft drink, the aspartame in Diet Soft drinks causes a very unpleasant aftertaste. My partner went grocery shopping and came home with a different softdrink about 2 years ago called Diet-Rite, It comes in a range of flavours along with a Cordial range also and It doesn't contain any aspartame it has a great flavour with no bad aftertaste.

Since I eliminated all Aspartame and Sucralose (splenda) from all my food and drink eight months ago, I have been able to control my cravings for sugar, the amount of daily sugar content in diet. My diet has transformed from being hungry all the time constantly craving sweets to seldom being hungry and being satisfied by much less food. Which has enabled me to naturally crave healthy foods, eating the same foods loosing weight as I will be once the weight is off.
I was a 25 plus year diet soda addict, drinking 4-7 cans day. I am convinced Artificial sweeteners has been largely responsible for my lifetime of bad eating habits. I can not express the effects of eliminating artificial sweeteners from my diet. Well on my way to loosing plus 200 lbs of weight loss.
