When you eat a forbidden food, in my case cookies, make sure you log it.
When you log it, it counts, and you realize what you ate. It may help you make different choices at the next eating opportunity, or it may just make you realize you ate 250 calories of cookies (that's what I did today). But logging it makes it real. I can't just mindlessly have another.
Don't create "forbidden foods" in your family. It will cause low self-esteem because nobody can cut sweets and salts out of their diet completely. One dessert a day, and one or two serving of salty foods a day is perfectly healthy.
Fat is also needed in your diet, so dont cut back on it too much. Your organs need fat, as well as your body, your hair, and your skin.
