Baby food jars, and especially the small plastic Gerber tubs, work wonderfully for organizing the junk drawer. We have one for buttons, safety pins, nails, screws etc.

Another use for baby food jars:
Nail or screw the lids onto wooden beams in your basement or garage above your workbench, leaving an inch between. FIll the jars with nuts, bolts, screws, nails, tacks, & other small parts or hardware. Reach up and screw the jars into the caps. The parts are out of the way, leaving you more room on your work bench or in your drawers. The glass jars allow you to see what is in each one.

(You may be able to attach the lids closer together, but you need enough room for your fingers, so when you hold a jar you can unscrew it or reattach it, if it is between other jars.)

At the Dollar store, I found a bag of small plastic containers, about 2" X 2.5", with lids. I needed one to carry extra camera batteries in my purse. I needed only one, but every few days I find a new use for them (including holding paper clips & other small things in drawers) so I've used almost all of them.

I read Denise Schofield's book "Confessions of an Organized Housewife" and she used the Plastic Drawer things that MEN have for the garage & you buy at Home Depo and she had them fill of Pins, tacks, etc. and all labeled. Those things are a real help.
