I eat a small snack or meal every 2-3 hours without exceeding my caloric limit for the day. I'm never hungry so I'm not tempted to over-eat. It was hard to get used to the smaller more frequent meals because I felt self-conscious as an over-weight person eating frequently and because I always have associated dieting with deprivation. Once I realized the impact this was having on my success, I got over the self-conscious feelings and got rid of the guilt.
I do best when I eat 5-6 small meals every 3-4 hrs. I make sure that these snacks have plenty of protien and contain some kind of fruit or vegetables. My top two favorites include: non-fat greek yogart with fresh berries; 1 serving of hummus with sliced red peppers and carrots.
