If you have a baby, save your baby food jars. They are perfect for storing nuts, trail mix or other "snacky foods" that need portion control. And you can put them in the dishwwasher since they're glass - you should not put plastic in the dishwasher.

To have perfect portions for veggies and such, I bought a 1/2 c scoop like what they use in restaurants. It is so easy to dip out a perfect 1/2 cup on each plate. And everyone starts with the same amount. -Now to just get my 14 yo to understand that he is not starving when we control portions 211
A good way to know if your portions are correct is by saving and re-using empty plastic fruit cups. They come in a package of 6 and are exactly 1/2 cup. Perfect portions every time! I re-wash mine and take them with me everywhere I go. Then when they wear out, I recycle them!
Extended Tip: Restaurants serve way too much food for one person. So, I always ask for a to go box with my meal when it comes. I then automatically put half of everything in it. That way, I know I won't over eat! 4
