I try to swim 3-4 times a week and do 40 lengths at a time without a break. After about 20 lengths I can feel myself flagging, but I break it down and find it helps me to keep going, I tell myself when I get to 20, that I only have 10 lengths left till my count down, then when I get to 30 lengths, I find I count down from 10 to get to my 40, this seems to go much quicker than counting upwards and on that final 1 length I really give it some welly!
When you have a lot to lose and just starting out, fitting 45 - 60 of exercise into your day can be daunting. BREAK IT DOWN! You can break it into small 10 minute bites if necessary...before you leave for work, durning your lunch break, an afternoon break and once you're home again. Every little bit counts! 9
