When you keep doing what you've been doing to lose weight, your metabolism adjusts so that it doesn't need to work so hard to maintain your weight.
That's PLATEAU TIME.
I didn't believe it, but I broke my plateau by eating more, then eating less, then eating within my range.
I also tried eating more carbs, then less carbs; more protein, then less protein; increasing my good fats, lowering my good fats; drinking more water, then less water, and changing my workout routine.
One week,
MORE INFORMATION:
I did nothing but swim and jog in the shallow end of the pool. Holy cow, did that bust my buns! I dropped 2 pounds that week.
Now, I make it a routine to change my routine every 2-3 weeks and I haven't had a plateau since.

I've wondered about that. I know you're supposed to change up your exercise routines, but I've noticed this week that I'm not particularly hungry, sometimes can't eat my evening snack because I'm still full from dinner, and am getting fewer than 1400 calories when my high range is 1550. But, the deficit isn't showing up on the scale. Maybe I should push to eat more for the next few days.

THANK YOU! I can't seem to get any lower right now. I get stuck at this exact point everytime I've tried going on a diet (which btw, gets me down, which in turn breaks my focus and I start eating the OLD way). I will try this!

Eating MORE once or twice a week
I've found that if you eat MORE once or twice a week (maybe about 400 calories more) it confuses your metabolism and doesn't let it get into routine. I've experimented with it and it works for me! Prevents me from getting plateaus too!
I am using calorie cycling and really mixing up my workouts to prevent the dreaded plateau. I bounce between high calorie days (2000), medium (1500) and light(1000). I constantly switch up my workouts so my body does not get used to any routines and stops responding. This is easy to do as I have over 40 fitness DVDs. So far so good!
