This Sparked Me!

After almost 8 weeks, I ate emotionally last night! Before SP, this would cause me such distress that I would CONTINUE eating everything in sight, since I'd already blown it. I read once that this mentality is like getting a black mark on a white dress--NOONE would take the marker and write all over the WHOLE dress since it got one little mark. Well, SP helped me NOT completely lose control. And I'm ready to get out again and walk this morning. Life seems brighter! AND [see below]

MORE INFORMATION:
I'm ready to journal the feelings and see if I can identify WHY I was eating emotionally and discover what I can do differently next time.

You used a form of what is known as Cognitive Therapy. Taking a real life situation where you would be shocked if the behavior continued and relating it to your emotional eating.
Some things that lead to emotional eating you might never realize are things like the anniversary of a major life event (or within a few days either way), work stress or school stress (for you, your children or spouse). For women it could be close to having your monthly time when your body affects your mind, pregnancy or other hormonal issues including thyroid problems.
In general, it might mean you are getting over an illness, starting an illness or even your body having fought off an illness you weren't aware of.
Whatever it was, you're doing a great job of taking charge of it and conquering what caused it.
Congratulations!

Thank-you for sharing the "White Dress" thought. I had not read that before, but it is something I can remember when I need to stop myself from continuing on a full-out food frenzy.

What an excellent comparison - the black mark on the white dress. I will definately use that thought, when my emotional eating hits again. It really makes perfect sense - the black and white theory! Best of luck on your journey.
