If you have an injury or something that keeps you from doing your normal exercise find something else to do. With a hip injury I found a cardio machine at my gym that you pedaled with your hands and still got a great workout. I also did lots of water exercises. But I didn't stop working out even though I couldn't run or even hardly walk.

    You can also gain collateral benefits. Research demonstrates if you are injured on one side, working the other side helps to prevent muscle atrophy on the injured side.
