To cut portion sizes, calories and my grocery budget I buy lean hamburger in club packs and divide it at home. I now divide it into 3/4 pound packs instead of 1 pound packs. This does not affect the taste of recipes. It cuts calories and it makes my grocery budget go further.
People recommend eating off smaller plates to cut portion sizes. Rather than tossing your perfectly good larger plates, switch your 8 inch salad plates with your 11 inch dinner plates. Start serving salads on the bigger plates, and use a smaller plate for your meals.
