Years ago, my dad took me on a hike at Purgatory Chasm, and I instantly fell in love with the calm and quiet of the whole place. So, now whenever I don't feel like exercising or I feel like doing something a little different, I head up there and climb through the Chasm and explore a new trail. Even after all these years, it is everchanging and calming, all at the same time.

The best part is all I need to a pair of sneakers, which are always on hand, the cellphone, and my knife, and I am ready to go.

  • When I was very young my parents started taking vacations at a small primitive park. It only had about 14 camp sites and a well for getting your water and an outhouse. It had a very nice beach and clean water for swimming. It was one of my favorite places to go and I took my children there as often as I could. We had to drive about three and one half hours to get there. All through my life when my world got to crazy I would go to some secluded spot and walk in the woods or sit by the water soaking up the peacefulness and solitude. Wonderful memories. - by BUD_44
