What The Doctor Says Isn'T True For Me

I'm Finding that what my Dr. said isn't True for Me...I was told to eat 45 carbs at each of my 3 meals and 15 for my 3 snacks. My numbers did come down but not where they should be. I dropped my carb count to under 100 per day and now my numbers are much lower. Everyone is Different I guess...

The dietician I saw told me the same thing 45 carbs per meal. I also found that was to many to keep my bs levels lower. I eat about 100 carbs per day and with exercising, my levels have been pretty good. - by COBOUCH53
  • Just be careful with your carb being that low. I have epilepsy and have been told that if my meds don't work, we'd swap the 750 mg of drugs for a low carb diet...just to show the impact low carb can have on your brain function. - by GABRIELLAH99
  • I eat about 60 carbs per day. Nature's Own Honey Wheat Bread is about 8 carbs a slice. I but it at Walmart. Otherwise Pepperidge Farm Carb Select Bread is 10 Carbs. 1 Sandwich only.

Green beans Jicama Leafy greens Leeks, onions Mushrooms Snow peas Summer squash Tomatoes Zucchini I avoid starchy vegetables such as potatoes, parsnips, squash, and go easy with carrots, beans, peas and beets. • Read the ATKINS NEW DIET REVOLUTION as he has a large section on diabetes and living on low carbs. I'm not diabetic and I'm doing ATKINS so I don't become diabetic.
Another good book worth reading is THE SOUTH BEACH HEART HEALTH BOOK by Arthur Agatston, M.D. as he is a Cardiologist who developed the South Beach Diet and he writes a LOT about dealing with Diabetes. - by JIBBIE49
  • I find it very hard to get my carbs below the 100 a day mark I wish I knew your other secret-how to do it. Pat in Maine - by NORASPAT
