Keep an inventory of what you donate and get your receipt. The tax deductions really add up.

I agree...except don't do what I did, I donated a bunch of clothes and then am so 'stuck' on my old size that I ended up buying back a pair of my pants! LOL

Recycle & Organize & Help Schools & Students
Donate old games (resource rooms for special ed), arts & crafts (crayons, construction paper, jars washed and cleaned, yarn, and such), old magazines and newspapers for Art classes at Schools. Donate sewing machines, pasta makers, etc to Home Ec ( to teach kids how to sew and cook). Donate instruments to band/orchestra for kids who can't afford to buy but want to learn.

With Schools getting cut backs, this is a great way to declutter your home and help out your schools and students. Collect from neighborhood drives to help schools and link a community.
Please donate to your local library. Many are in financial trouble. Estimate what it would cost you for all the magazines, books, DVD rentals, etc. that you sign out in one year. If everyone donated even a small fraction of that, the libraries might be able to stay afloat.
As memorial gifts, instead of sending flowers that are going to die within days, donate to the library to buy a book on a subject that interested the deceased.....(Click on the title for more info.)

If you can't donate money, donate used books & magazines which the library can sell. Or ask the librarian what supplies would be helpful, everything from printer paper to paper clips. You can also donate your time.
