Not only will you spend less time in front of the tv but you will save money. I only spend $9 a month on Netflix now and can stream straight to my tv what I want to watch (movies & tv show) and it's easier to spend less time just veggin & channel surfing in front of the tv.

I get internet and home phone through AT&T but dumped cable 6 months ago. Don't need it. My hubby was becoming a slug and I was sitting in front of the T.V. instead of sleeping. I've been thinking about Netflix for us to be able to watch a movie on his days off. The library and Red Box is nice but you can't always find something good when you need it.

We didn't switch over from the analog to digital tvs in 2009 when they changed over. We got Netflix so we could have movies delivered so we saved money in gas also. We read a lot and borrowed movies from the library also. Love the time we got back in our lives to get other things done!

When we had cable, there were many times when there was not one thing we really wanted to watch on TV despite 50+ channels ---but there were always programs we didn't mind watching, so we watched hours & hours of TV & rarely got anything else done. About 15 yeas ago, we decided to drop it. We tape a few over-the air shows on the few channels we receive. We have Netflix & borrow lots of DVDs free at the library. We also watch shows on the internet, on Hulu or on network sites. And we get lots of other things done ---reading, writing, taking care of business, home errands, Nordic walking, working out at the Y, yard work, etc.

I did it too! It is GREAT!! All I ever watched was the news and Animal Planet. But I was sucked into JUNK while the TV was running in the background. Now I get the news from the internet AND do SparkPeople AND watch Netflix videos for less than $10.00 a month. AND I do it ALL while I'm on the TREADMILL!! I set a plywood board across the treadmill arms and pretend it's a desk - works great & doesn't slide. I feel as though I have my life back - the part that drained feebly into the TV. Thanks for the great idea!

Great idea, but what about your phone and internet. It would be nice to switch to just cell phones for the phone, but then what about your internet?

I am so impressed! I want to do that, but haven't taken the plunge yet. I did buy a roku so I can stream my netflix and got rid of my HBO and Showtime...my dilemma is I LOVE to watch tennis and cycling. But you are so right, I would save money! And I would move so much more, and spend my time doing things instead of just simply watching.
