Every Saturday I go to the local farmer's market, stock up on what looks good, and then plan my week's meals around the fresh produce and meats that I purchased. It's not only a way to support the local economy, but also a way to keep your foods close to home and (likely) organic.

Farmer's market or grocery store. It is less expensive if you go to the farmer's market and buy bulk but when you can't get to a farmer's market, wash your fruit and vegetable with a vegetable wash to get the same effect as foods without pesticides.
Head down to your local farmer's market for great deals on fresh food- fruits, veggies, meats, spices, breads, eggs, etc...I got a TON of stuff yesterday and spent only about $35 (best deal of the day- a case of blueberries for $5!) I am now spending the day cleaning, cutting up and freezing extras- that way fresh fruit is ready to go as a health snack. I try to make it down to the farmer's market every 2 weeks or so- and it's a lot of fun for my son to pick out his own stuff :)
