In order to remember what part of my midsection that I measured as my waist, I started taking pics of the exact locations of my body parts. Given that my body has lots of curves and rolls in the wrong places, taking measurements was very hard! Where is a waist on a 250+ woman with rolls on top of rolls? By taking pics of what I considered my waist at the time of my measurements, I figured out how to make monthly comparisons. Little things like this make a BIG difference with motivation!!
Take pictures before you begin your program...take them in a work out outfit or a swim suit...doesn't matter what you look like because these pics are JUST for you. Take frontal, side and rear view pics...then take them every 4-8 weeks...in the exact same clothing, doing the same poses. Then compare. Pics can help you see progress when you don't see it in other ways...
Have an iPhone, iPod, or any electronic device that you can load pics onto and watch in slideshow form?? Make an album full of motivating pics. Mine currently has hot celebs, clothing I want to wear when I'm at my goal, pics of people working out, motivating phrases etc. Then when you are at a particularly difficult workout put that slideshow on and remind yourself why you are doing this. It works every time :)
