I try to swim 3-4 times a week and do 40 lengths at a time without a break. After about 20 lengths I can feel myself flagging, but I break it down and find it helps me to keep going, I tell myself when I get to 20, that I only have 10 lengths left till my count down, then when I get to 30 lengths, I find I count down from 10 to get to my 40, this seems to go much quicker than counting upwards and on that final 1 length I really give it some welly!

If I have the urge to work out, I grab my shoes and go outside to put them on. This way, I don't run the risk of sitting on the couch in front of the TV or at the kitchen table in front of another task . It makes it nearly impossible for that devil on my shoulder to tell me I have something better to do!
