On holidays, at parties etc...If it is a pot luck buffet style occasion: First, take a regular size plate. Next, look to see what you crave most. Then take one serving size spoonful to place food on your plate. Make sure NOT any of the foods you choose are touching. The space between foods helps with portion control. This also forces you to choose only your favorite foods. Which will keep your cravings at bay. .

Recently at an event for the weekend with buffet style meals provided I decided to use the dinner plate for large healthy salads and veggies and used the salad plate for the entrée, bread etc. I did this for every meal. I ate more veggies and less calories this way. Yeah!301
Whenever I go to a restaurant that has a buffet, I ask to order off the menu. I've learned that I just don't have the willpower for a buffet, and I'm always trying to "eat my money's worth." I'm just as satisfied with a plate of my own.
Plus, if you order off the menu, you can always ask for a to-go box and take some of your meal home.
