Arm yourself with kitchen shears. Good ones. You can use these to chop up veggies, cut up meat, fish and chicken, and they're great for herbs! Just make sure you scrub them well after you use on raw animal products!

I make a menu for the week. This has helped when doing grocery shopping and during food prep time. I have found that there's some "down time" when fixing dinner so I will do some prep work on the next night's meal. This has cut down on time in the kitchen, which means more time some where else.
Cut up a few days worth of peppers, onions, carrots, etc that stay fresh for a number of days when in a sealed container. Prep lettuce for two days at a time. Then you only need to prep perishable veggies like cucumber daily....
