UPromise is a savings program where you get small amounts if money for purchasing specific items or services. The site SAYS it is money for college, but you can actually take out the money any time you want for any reason. You just send them a letter that says, "I want to withdraw my money."
You do need to search the site a bit to find the address and instructions on where to send the request to withdraw your money, but to get free money, it's worth it! They want you to keep your money in their account, or open a 529, but if that is not what you want to do, just request your check!

Sign up for upromise.com and receive college money for your children. You earn money when shopping online, filling up with gas, buying certain grocery items, and other things. You can also get your family and friends to save for your child too.
It is completely free to sign up and I have $250 since I signed up in 2008 for my daughter. It may not be a fortune, but every little bit counts!
I joined Upromise and registered my grocery cards many years ago and have saved quite a bit of money for my kids college. Download the search bar to help you save even more. Just by making my regular purchases, I put money away without even trying. It adds up quickly.
