I buy dry beans and chick peas and soak them in water for eight hours and cook. Then I divide them in 120-150 g servings, and freeze. Making slow food fast and easy to put in soups, stews and salads.

I do this now too. I put them in the freezer in 2 cup bags. We like red beans but I often had to substitute kidney beans because I couldn't find canned red beans. When I did they were expensive. We used some this week for a spur of the moment dinner with chicken tacos and it worked great.

Not only is this a money saving method, it also is a bonus for those of us who have a problem with salt. The canned beans have so much salt added to them, that I don't eat them any more. Will look into the dried beans - this allows for choice of how much salt to be added to the recipe. Thanks for sharing this.
