To boil prepare lean ground beef for dishes, add a bit of water to ground beef in pan... when cooked, pour into colander... rinse with water... put back into pan... brown ground beef... Fat Reduced Lean Ground Beef!
When I need ground beef for tacos/sloppy joes/chili and other unformed dishes, I cook the beef in a pan, then drain as much grease as possible. Then I put the cooked meat in a fine mesh collander and rinse it with hot water (cold water congeals the fat) to get rid of the remaining fat.
