Overhand Pull-Up Tip

This Sparked Me!

When doing overhand pull-ups (palms facing outward) the tendency is to use the forearms to pull yourself up.

But your back muscles are stronger, so consciously focus on your back to pull yourself up and you'll surprise yourself by doing more pull-ups -- or finally doing one.

I found this out when I injured my forearm. So I focused on my back muscles and discovered it was easier.

For those who can't do one pull-up, though, put a chair or some other support underneath the bar and let your legs help you out. I did that for months.

Definately need to give this a try. Right now even on the machine w/the weight counter balance assistance I cannot do a pull up.

Great advice. I usually find that it's easier to pull myself up by consciously contracting and tightening my abdominals.

:S I've tried this even in school and it really didn't work for me... at all
