Don'T Use The Drive Thru!

Park the car and WALK into the drug store or pharmacy to get your meds, the cleaners to get your laundry or dry cleaning, Braum's (or your local equivalent) to get the NSA Frozen Yogurt that you earned! The steps will add up. (Pedometers don't lie!)

    I only use the drive thru when my 39 yr old handicapped son is with me, but only after asking him if he wants to go in with me, or sit in the car and listen to the radio while I run in.

    I walk a lot of errands like that but it does not seem to add up much to me. I read unless you get your metabolism moving that you can not loose weight by walking.

    I added these extra steps to my life and initially I thought they were no big deal.
Now I celebrate each time I make the choice as they validate my committment to
lifestyle change. For those of you just beginning...I promise this is a great way to
start and to celebrate yourself!

    Years ago my drivers side window was broken and i was forced not to use the drive thru, once the window was fixed i was so used to getting out of my car i now rarely use a drive thru!

    I admit I have become lazy and park as close as I can to stores. Remembering this is a great way to get in a little extra exercise.

    why have we become so lazy that everything has to be drive through. Strap on those running shoes and get in as much walking in a day as you can!

    I don't use the drive Thru for anything, I always walk in the store if I am picking up meds for my patient or for my hubby,I know the benefit of walking, emoticon

    I do this 99.9 % of the time. I only use the drive throgh if I'm picking up MIL meds. and she's with me.

    I do not use the drive thru. I try to park out away from the store I am going to. And if I am going to more than one store in a strip mall I park in one stall and walk to all the stores. And if the weather permits and I need just a few things from the grocery store I will walk as it is only 2 blocks from my home.

    Fortunately, don't own a car, so I bike & walk everywhere (unless I'm taking public transportation or riding with a friend). Occasionally a friend lends me her car & then I park WAY far away--just to minimize the chance something could happen to her car.

    I am learning to do this. I want the benefits of the walking. But still hampered by my size. So I do still park in the handicap parking and do the walking. I do have my pedometer. Doctor has me working at 2500 steps right now I am hoping next week I will be upping it to 3000 again..

    I never use the drive thru, but never thought about the walking benefits. They never get the order correct in drive thru
