I just learned in my Nutrition class that the fiber in oatmeal binds to bile during the digestion process. Every bowl of oatmeal you eat will literally flush cholesterol right out of your body.
MORE INFORMATION:
Bile is made of 70% cholesterol, and is usually recycled within the body. However, when oatmeal flushes it out, the body has to draw cholesterol from the blood to make more!

the scottish typically have porridge oats made with water a salt... generally not to my liking however made with milk its rather yummy. Using the oats to make healthier cereal bars/flapjacks/granola that you are able to measure wot u add can also vary it. Plus just adding uncooked oats to yogurt makes a satisfing and yummy snack or brekkie

I eat oatmeal every morning and vary it by adding cocoa powder and some sweetner, or cinnamon and walnuts, or sliced bananas, raisins, etc. I am addicted to it.

JAYEACTS, I make something similar to oatmeal for breakfast that is much yummier AND adds more protein and fruit. The night before, I mash one small banana with a tablespoon of nut butter. Mix in a half cut of whole old fashioned oats and top with 1 cup of frozen berries. Then in the morning you have a delicious breakfast!

The more fiber I eat like oatmeal or fiber one cereal the more full I feel all day. I was amazed how full I was just after eating a bowl of oatmeal that I almost missed lunch.
I have joined a morning bootcamp in my town, and my instructor has stated to us campers that if we want to lose weight, to eat a piece of fruit with each meal. But, to make sure to stick with darker fruits such as different berries. If you are going to eat a banana, make sure to eat no more than either a 1/2 banana or one small banana a day due to the sugar content. Eating the fruit helps to keep to fill you up and keep you fuller longer.

One of my favorite breakfast is Oatmeal with a sliced banana and a packet of splenda. I NEVER thought I could ever eat oatmeal, let alone "plain" oatmeal, but with the splenda and the banana you would never know the difference! I actually look forward to the mornings that I get to eat my oatmeal!
