I've read that the physical act of smiling actually makes you feel better. And it does (try it now). But when you need a lift the most, it's hard to remember. I now have a smile streak. Tie it to a daily task like taking vitamins. Then smile!41
I save all my water bottles ( they now have a 5 cent deposit) and return them for change. When I get a bunch of change I turn it in at coinstar for amazon gift certificates. Which I then use for rewards for myself or gifts for some one who needs a lift.
Keep a daily or weekly gratitude journal to keep track of the goodness in your life. Start today ~ right now ~ and jot down something you appreciate and are grateful for! Do this at least once a week and put the date next to your entry.
Don't over think this! Grab a piece of paper or your computer and start the list now. I've been doing this for two years and when I need a lift, I read the entries and draw on the knowledge that my life is filled with so much to appreciate from my favorite cup of coffee to my beautiful grandsons.
