Be present when preparing and eating your food. I used to believe I didn't have an off switch. But if you are slow and deliberate when eating, your brain and body will catch up to let you know enough is enough.
Food shopping should be very, very deliberate. Plan ahead, make a list and set time aside - rushing doesn't allow you to make deliberate choices by reading labels and calories! Also, never go to the grocery store when you are hungry! Even if it's after work and around dinner, get in a healthy snack beforehand so you don't make impulse buys. I've always found that food is the first step to weight loss. If you want the Ferrari of bodies, you have to give it the premium fuel!
