Instead of drinking heavy stouts and dark beers with a lot of calories, I have been drinking Michelob Ultra and limiting my intake to 3 beers in one day and no more than 7 in a week. It amazed me to learn how many calories are in beer.

I'm in my twenties and have friends who like to have a drink at the bar...I really like beer, and if someone else is driving will drink about 4 in a night. Instead I offer to DD, so I have one MAYBE two (depending on how long we are out) light beer(s). It saves me calories, I still get to have fun with my friends AND everyone gets home safely.
I love a good beer and am sad to give it up, even for dieting. So instead of fully giving it up, I buy high quality, flavorful, but still lower calorie beers (~150 calories). I pour half in a glass to sip and enjoy, and go back for the 2nd half later. I drink much slower, enjoy the taste more, half of my beer is kept cold for me, and I have to move to get up and retrieve the rest.
