I have several pretty bowls and plates that I use exclusively in my house. I find that eating almonds out of a cute bowl makes them taste "better"! I suggest investing in a cute set of a few serving pieces for yourself - never eat off of napkin or paper towel - or out of the package!
The cute bowls I got from Home Goods, but I've seen really great items at Kohl's, Bed, Bath & Beyond or even WalMart!

I spent about $20 on a set of pretty white ceramic square salad plates at Kohl's (Food Network brand). I use them for all my meals. One, because everything looks tastier on a pretty plate. And two, since I bought salad plates instead of dinner plates, I eat a lot less even if the plate is full!!
I saw a book that shows how 1963 dinner plates averaged 9" compared to today's, which are 12" wide. I found 9-inch 'Food Network' "salad" plates at Kohl's that I use for dinner plates. The smaller plates make portions look bigger. Kohl's also has 1-cup ceramic bowls and Target has 2-cup cereal bowls. Now when I put something to eat into a bowl, I know how much I have without measuring.41
I have a pretty blue bowl that is just a little larger than a one cup measuring cup. i use this bowl to prepare and eat food and under nutrition i list the calories for eating my favorite things in that bowl. so i can just grab it - fill it - and log it real quick. the bowl is special and pretty so its fun to use plus it makes portioning painless.
