It works unless you need to look presentable for your job when you get there...especially difficult in the rain when cars slosh standing water up one's legs!

Great idea. I am to adicted to saving time and energy I take the car. Walking serves several purposes, exercise and saving fuel are only a couple.

Burn extra calories, and get a great warmup by walking or biking to your gym.
I always feel silly when I drive to my gym a mile away, especially since I'm going there to try to lose weight! So I always walk there and back to burn those extra calories,and the walks are so relaxing and beautiful. It's nice to get a breath of fresh air sometimes!
Whenever you can, save a little gas and instead of driving to those nearby errands, walk or better yet run. It doesn't have to be a full out get drenched in sweat run, just enough to raise your heart rate. ie., a trip to the nail salon, library, post office (even fireworks last night) can gain me anywhere from 1.5 miles to 6 miles or more (there and then back).
