If you have fruits or veggies about to go bad, don't throw them away, freeze them. You can use the veggies in soups, stews, sauces, stir-fry, etc. You can use the fruit in smoothies, oatmeal, breads, etc. You won't waste money!

When I go shopping I always go to the fruits and veggies section first and pick up ... anything. It saves me from wandering into the less healthy stuff and it ensures that I always have fruits and veggies around.
I look for items that work well as snacks if I don't have a specific meal plan in mind. Thinking of these items as snacks also seems to sate the need to buy unhealthy snacks.
