Set a simple daily/weekly/monthly goal for yourself. Once you reach it you get that much closer to your larger goal. August is going to be a 1200 cardio minute month for me! What about you?

I think simple or small goals are the way to go. If you try to large a goal you are simply putting a handicap on yourself from the start. I'm starting out way small. I reinjured my knee so am limited on my exercises so I'm starting out by making sure my diet is where it should be for the week and following up with the exercises that my pt assigned me.

I agree very simple goals will not overwhelm you and will allow you to face things with a little more ease. As you accomplish the little goals they will mount up to larger ones.

Dont Do Everything at Once
Sustainable weight loss is a matter of changing your lifestyle & eating habits. My secret is to not change everything at once. Start out with simple goals, like not eating sweets or drinking more water. After you tackle the first goal, set another one. But, keep them reasonable. This has worked very well for me and I just keep tackling small goals on my way to my big goal. Good luck!
I set my goal at increasing my steps by 50 per day, then I strive to double that. It makes reaching my goal easier and building to 10000 a much simpler goal.
We have goals, we strive to meet them, then life takes over. Promise yourself a simple goal or two, turn it into a streak. As SP says, it takes 21-40 days to form a habit. Once it's a habit...it's a lifestyle change! Repeat!
