I think simple or small goals are the way to go. If you try to large a goal you are simply putting a handicap on yourself from the start.
I'm starting out way small. I reinjured my knee so am limited on my exercises so I'm starting out by making sure my diet is where it should be for the week and following up with the exercises that my pt assigned me.

I would like to eat exactly as SP recommends for one month.
I am planning for this goal....I have been doing what I think is right and am at a plateau that I cant breack through....So try one day a week ..then one week and so on...this is big for me!

I agree very simple goals will not overwhelm you and will allow you to face things with a little more ease. As you accomplish the little goals they will mount up to larger ones.
