Use generics. From medications like Tylenol (acetaminophen) and benadryl (diphenhydramine), many are exactly the same as the brand name, and always a LOT cheaper. They work the same, and a lot of time they are made by the same company. The same goes for food. Many are just as good.
Most of the generic brands are just as good as the name brands, although a few are not. It is a trial and error thing and depends on taste. Some things, like toilet paper, I haven't been able to find in the generic.

Bounce Fabric Sheets have a smell that repels ants. I always keep a packet in in my suitcase for vacations and lay it in cupboards, and drawers in any kitchen vacation time share unit that we stay in. They run away from it!
Must be Bounce, generic fabric sheets don't have the same chemical, apparently. 39
The word generic is typically known as being marketed under a package with a brand name, but sold in a package without a brand. When I compare the ingredients of a brand named product with its generic counterpart, I find them to be the same. The difference is generic is cheaper so I buy that.246
When you purchase OTC medicines, check the labels of the name brands, then the labels of the generic products placed next to them on the shelf. You will find they contain exactly the same ingredients in the same proportions. Then, check the price difference. Go with generic!
