To trick myself into the smaller portions, I used a salad plate.
The small plate doesn't look so empty. I was able to portion my foods to the right portion. The smaller plate worked in the way that the plate did not look so empty.

The smaller portions filled the salad plate in the same way the out of control portions fill the regular plate.
Plus, people did not realize that I was dieting- so there were no comments and stares either.

    This really works. You can use disposable plates instead of salad plates too, as they are 8-9 inches instead of the huge modern size.
