Secrets of Success

Just Do It

I found that at the beginning I had to just make myself do something. Exercise like anything else is a habit that you have to get into. It takes time and sometimes you just have to make your self do it.

  • Just this week I asked myself how do I learn to want something I want to want but don't really want? How do I change what I really like. I never felt like I had a choice before. My desires and preferences are what they are. But how do people acquire a taste for things like coffee or beer - by forcing it down until they get used to it, and often come to really enjoy it. How do people find new things to enjoy, as in hobbies - they expose themselves to it, read about it, experiment with it, find themselves engrossed in it and finally it is something they think they can't live without. I need to apply some of those things to healthy habits. It may not be easy or enjoyable at first, but if I persist in doing it, feel the sense of accomplishment and how much better I feel, if I learn more about the food or exercise and the benefits and the various alternative methods till I find one I can do and enjoy, I will eventually change my preferences, attitude and lifestyle. - by DNJOYS

  • Yesterday was a day I had to make myself take my's just day 4 and I told myself that in 3 weeks it would be a habit. Thank you for sharing. - by KWAJPODGE
I have always thought the if you do something for two weeks, then it becomes a habit. For me that was not true. I make slips up some of the time. What I have found true is if you just keep doing the right thing regardless of the mistakes just keep trying. Get back up the next day and live it as if it were your very first. You will succeed. Just keep trying. You will succeed.

  • The beginning was easy for me...I had a goal, I need to change and I was motivated. The tough part was staying in it when results were not easily evidenced by the scale. That's when I needed support and the will to ...just do it!!! Where ever your struggle, realize you are not alone or the first so push through and call on any support resources you have established!!! - by CHERYLSBUTT
