If I gain and don't fit into something, I tell myself I cannot go out and buy the bigger size - I make do with what I have until I can lose and fit into the smaller one. I just refuse to buy big - mandatory motivation!

The headache and heartache of buying clothes and what it does for your weight loss goals.
I just broke down and decided that I wasn't losing the weight like I had hoped and went and bought a new wardrobe. I feel more confident and after seeing all the clothes I want to wear, it promoted me to care about losing weight again.
Try to keep your clothes current to your weight/size
Before I got into sparkpeople, I just wore XL or XXL clothes as a blanket "solution" to the problem. Now I always look for clothes that are a great fit, and not just bigger than what I really am. This has helped me at the very least maintain my weight loss, because of course if I gain too much weight the new clothing will be unusable in public. I've stalled out on the exercise and weight loss, but I haven't gone backwards.
