Eating From A Measuring Cup

This might sound silly, but sometimes when I am really tracking my portions, I will eat food from a measuring cup. I do this with cottage cheese, for instance, or even frozen yogurt. It allows me to know exactly how much I am eating, and it helps that the measuring cup is smaller than a bowl.

    I find it useful to move it from the measuring cup and onto an attractive dish or bowl. This takes a bit more time, so that the pleasure of eating extends to the visual effect of the pretty bowl. Arranging a bit of an herb or fruit or spice on top is another way I increase the visual of the dish. That way each bite is visually attractive as well as delicious. The fact that it's measured isn't noticed.

    My daughter does that as well. I think its a great idea as it is easier to maintain portion control and know how many calories you are actually eating! emoticon
