No Butter No Sugar Sugar Cookies

My husband and I are both Type 2 diabetics and he has heart problems but we love a good old fashion Sugar Cookie! We found that Smart Balance butter substitute and Splenda let us continue to indulge! Just be careful when selecting Splenda as it also has a half Splenda half real sugar product.

Smart Balance is also good for preparing sauted onions and garlic, etc. Unlike margerines it does not separate out into a clear liquid and globs of goo. Three Tablespoons a day is also supposed to help lower cholesterol levels. It gets our vote! emoticon

  • True but you control the carbs by how large or small you make the cookies and by the number of cookies you eat. You do require some carbs in your diet!


    Also, while not always exactly the same taste there are other things you can substitute in place of refined white all purpose, sifted, or cake flour ... such as flax seed flour for example. I worked with someone allergic to wheat that always used flax seed flour for everything she made including cookies, cakes, and breads which were all quite tasty!

    But I still prefer to "count" them into the daily allowance.
