Use 1 to 1 1/2 cup containers to put extra soup or meals in then freeze them in the container. Once they're frozen take them out of container and put them all in a large freezer ziploc bag with a label on it of what it is and the date. When you need a meal it is all ready and the right portion needed.
When I cook, I often have more tomato paste or canned chipotles than are necessary for the recipe. I DON'T want to visit the Emergency Room of a hospital because I couldn't smell something and ate something bad.[Right now I have Sinuitis --blockage in the nose- so it limits my sense of smell].
