    even if you are not losing weight as fast as you would like, I'm sure strength training (esp for hip area) is good for your knees!

    that's good to know. I have lost 35 pounds and my knees do feel better. I look forward to the day when they no longer hurt.

    I never thought about that, but I guess it's because the knees have a smaller surface area. I wonder if that counts the weight below your knees or if that's already factored in. Anyway, I have a creaky knee so this is good to hear. I think I used to lock them when I was standing around, so know I try and keep them active when I'm standing.

    My knees really used to hurt me due to osteoarthritis, Dr's been telling me to loose weight. I've lost almost 30# & boy, can I tell a difference!

    Currently nursing a knee injury and I told the doctor I KNOW it's because I'm middle-aged, over-weight, and taking some meds that can cause joint issues. So, the one thing I can control is what I weigh. Thanks for the inspiration!

    This really is surprising. I didn't expect if to be so much, either. My knees have just started to bother me. I felt that my weight gain was chief reason, I just didn't know it was that much. Definately need to get my extra weight off and not put on any additional.

    i am glad i learned this. i have alot of pain in my knees when i walk and go up steps. can not wait to loose weight just for relief
