This came from getorganized.com. When you're painting a room, dip the stir stick into the paint and let it dry. Then write the color, brand of paint, sheen, and room on the end. Store all the paint sticks for each room together in a coffee can near your paint storage.
That way, whenever you need to match the color or find a complementary one, you just have to grab the stick and take it along. Also placing the leftover paint in a small, clear jar that is labeled with the room name will also help you save of space.

Take advantage of paint sales when they happen since it is expensive to buy good quality paint at a regular price. Buy it when it is on sale but don't have it tinted! You can always go back and have the color added after therefore not ending up with cans of colored paint that you didn't use.
Painting - Add 1-2 Drops of Pure Almond or Vanilla Extract to Avoid Paint Smell
Simply by adding 1-2 drops of pure almond extract or pure vanilla extract to a gallon of paint and stirring it up and using it will neutralize the nasty "fresh paint" smell. Also, it is such a small addition, it won't affect the color of the paint.
