Forget veggie dip, sour cream, and low-fat ranch. I used to think I was being so good by choosing what I thought were better options. Instead: SALADS: olive oil/balsamic vinegar. Even better: plain yogurt. Try it, seriously. VEGGIE DIP: Just salsa, especially w/ celery. Even better: plain hummus.

Sandwiches: try "nayonaise" or a soy mayonnaise instead of the high-cal mayo. I used to put a slice of cheese on my sandwiches, but I've found 1 tbs of nayonaise adds same flavor boost with less calories and fat.

Salad Dressing Secret
I abhor low cal salad dressings. I wanted to keep the full flavor of my favorite creamy style dressing but not all the calories. In order to give me that ability I measure out 1 tsp of salad dressing, then I dip the tines of my fork in the salad dressing and pick up a bite of salad. I get a taste of my yummy salad dressing in each bite and use no more than a teaspoon of salad dressing, in fact, usually I use less than that!
I recently grew a lot of salad in my garden and starting eating it for breakfast, lunch and dinner with some other foods on the side. I found a felt full with a bunch of salad because it crowded out other foods I would eat instead. I lost six pounds in one week and am still losing.
