Our cars have batteries on opposite sides so we park the cars with the batteries closest to each other. On the rare occassion that a car needs a jump, the cars are already situated conveniently. This may seem silly but if you have ever been caught with your cars too far apart, you realize the merits
The cars have to be parked somewhere so this is how we determined each other's parking place. Just yesterday, my battery decided to die in the heat. I have since bought extra long jumper cables but this really is more convenient for me.
If you haven't much experience with snow and ice, here are a couple of tricks if your car has to be parked outside. #1 After you've driven for awhile & the inside is warm, when you park your car ice will freeze around your wiper blades & they'll stick to the windshield. To stop this, pull the wiperblades out like you were going to clean the bottom of your WS. There is a lot less wear & tear on your blades. #2 Snow piles up on your windshield. Cut a large piece of plastic material to fit your WS.
Park your car, cover your windshield with the plastic - your damp/wet WS will make the plastic cling, then freeze, to the window. Return to the car, get in & warm as usual. The heat will melt the ice. Remove plastic & you'll have a clean WS.You'll stay warm because you're not scraping snow.
Next time you want to go to the drive through - park you car in the parking lot and walk to the place instead of driving through - It will make you think twice before deciding to really go for those unneeded calories - and if you do decide to go for it - at least you will get out of the car and walk
