We have switched to using smaller, 9" plates to make the portions look larger, but we have a hard time convincing my granddaughter and grandson there is more on the plate.

We switched to using the smaller salad fork so they are taking smaller bites, but more of them.

We have all benefited from

MORE INFORMATION:
this because it takes us longer to eat and we feel just as full on a meal that is "right-sized" then from the larger ones we used to eat.

Even seconds for our grandchildren are smaller - not that either needs less food, because they are outside about 14 hours a day, now.

    every time i bring home sushi i am reminded of the friend who started using chopsticks to slow herself...AND when all of my silverware was in the dishwasher, i remember resorting to the little olive forks and THAT slowed me down and i appreciated each bite more...so, thanks for the reminder!
