Do not give up on never getting your favorite foods when on a diet. Eat healthy, but when you really have a craving for a candy bar, ice cream, cheesecake, or some other calorie laden delight, eat it then!! If you do not get what you are craving, you will probably eat a lot more unhealthy stuff!!

Getting my younger children wanting to try new fruits and vegtables
When I want the kids to try some thing new I tell them that it is really good and I don't know if me and their father want to share. Then we make a big deal about how good it tastes, and fianlly we say because you have been so good or since we love you so much. It works every time.
We can also do the opposite with food we don't really want them eating.
When I moved, I had a ton of books that I really didn't need anymore, but still wanted new ones. I found a site- swap.com, where I can list the books I have and the books I want and it sets up a trade between members. All you do is pay for shipping. I like it a lot. I've gotten some things I really wanted, while getting rid of some books I no onger had interest in.
I found the more I thought about what I ordered in a restaurant I found I was injesting calories I didn't even want! The cheese & crouton on my french onion soup, or the cheesy bread and mayo on my roast beef sandwiches was not even what I wanted. By really examining my wants I was able to cut my lunch calories in HALF by getting exactly what I want!
