Walking shoes with the rounded bottoms . These are good for WALKING only and on smooth surfaces. Not comfortable with a side to side motion or on uneven surfaces. like trail! I probably would not invest in these again for my needs.

Because of the rounded bottoms of these PLEASE be extra careful on stairs!

Here's an article that was on the USA Today front page a couple days ago:

I have worn the Skechers Shape Ups since October 2009. Once I got used to them I do think they are more comfortable and better for Strictly Walking than other shoes I have worn. However I do NOT recommend them for running or Trail walking or Hiking on uneven Paths. Shopping and walking around the neighborhood they are GREAT!!
VENISEW1 6/23/2011 10:02:00 PM

I agree I wasted my $ on them too. Only wore mine a few times b/c I feel like they look like orthopedic shoes I don't wear them anymore. I want to try the vibram five's next & hope to get more use out of those.
LADYCALICO 3/27/2011 11:00:00 PM

They clearly are not meant for hiking, running, or anything but a flat, hard surface--however, if you have plantar fascitis, they are the greatest thing ever. I can now walk pain free.

I have 2 pair of the Shape Ups and love them. When I go for long walks I can definitely feel them working my legs and backside. I am on my feet for long periods of time and they are more comfortable for that then any other shoes I have/had. I've noticed when walking around the neighborhood on sidewalks and pavement my back does not bother me like it does when I wear other shoes.

    Thanks for the info

Good to know. I was considering getting a pair but I can only afford one pair of shoes so I need something I can use on wooded trails.
LUCKYDOGFARM 7/3/2010 2:42:00 AM

these shoes are designed for walking, not hiking. i wont even wear them out on my farm with all the uneven surfaces.
GAYLLYNNE 7/2/2010 5:02:00 PM

I bought these and ended up returning them. I found that they were just cut to high on my ankle and rubbed my ankle bone.
STPJUDGE 7/2/2010 3:57:00 PM

I have a pair of these and definitely think they work my legs more than regular sneakers. I only wear them when I am walking for exercise and I would not use them on a tread mill or to run in.
