Next time you drive to your favorite fitness center for a workout, park as far from the front door as possible. I see people at my local 24 Hour fitness center driving in circles looking for a close spot. Why? Try to break this habit for the gym at least, and you may end up breaking it for good!
If your gym is within a mile, walk to it for a nice warm up and cool down.

I live just a short 10 min walk from my gym, so rather than going to the gym on the way home from work, I park the car at home and then walk to and from my workout! It sneaks in a bit extra time to think, warm up and cool down!
Find a friend who is already exercising and join in with them to walk, join a gym, or swim. I would not have tried these activities on my own but now I have started, having a friend to exercise with is wonderful, but I no longer mind going on my own. It has only taken a matter of weeks ot get to the 'independent' stage 30
When you walk into the gym, I think ALL of us feel like everyone else is staring. I used to hate it, until I learned to use it to my advantage... hey! At least I made it there! If they wanna stare, then cool, I'm gonna give them a show! It's motivation to work my butt off "for them"!
