I always request a refrigerator and microwave at the hotel. I don't always get one, but I try. Depending on what is available, I make a stop at a grocery store to get healthy food for breakfast, snacks and maybe lunch in the room or to take along. It's cheaper and healthier!

I just did this a couple of weeks ago on a business trip! Made some extra $$ too...company just gives us a per diem check before we leave! So I paid about $30 for groceries & pocketed the rest of the cash! NICE! - by FIEVEL96
  • This is also a good tip if you travel for work! I always prefer to buy food in the grocery store when travelling - you have more control. - by PAG2809

Great comments about traveling for work! I've done the same thing with my per diem. It's worth the effort and I'm controlling what I eat! Great comments - thanks! - by STORMTMB
