I like to boost the nutritional value of canned soups by adding extra veggies & meat. For example, Progresso's Italian wedding soup - yummy but not quite filling enough! Add 1 cup each sliced carrots and celery, along with diced frozen turkey meatballs, & microwave. Gives you 2 hefty servings!
Each serving is less than 300 calories. If you want to cut sodium, just buy low-sodium soup. You can also add a bit of fresh spinach or whatever other greens you have about. When you get soup on sale, this is a big moneysaver too...

Cutting calories doesn't mean we have to stop eating. We have to apply a few tricks. One trick is to either drink a glass of water right before dinner or have a bowl of soup as a starter. This makes you have a full feeling yet the amount of calories, if the right soup chosen, is significantly lower!
Need a quick bowl of soup for a vegetarian? Try really cheap beer. One can of cheap beer equals about one bowl of soup. Add veggies, blend with tofu or cheese, throw in some fresh herbs. The alcohol cooks out of the 'broth' but the grain flavor remains. Remember, the cheaper the brand, the better the broth. I buy it when it's on sale and just store it in the cupboard for a quick lunch. 4
I sometimes have trouble getting in all my protein on a daily basis so I came up with this handy trick!
For lunch I usually have soup soup - Quick and easy! I add 1 cup extra frozen veggies to get in veggies. I add extra clams to "clam chowder", "turkey Sausage" to gumbo, canned chicken to chick noodle..well ya get the point! Also stretches 1 can of soup into a heart meal for 2!
